The 4th Annual 24 Hours of America

What:
A 24-hour team competition in a kart …yes, it is back!

When:
Jan. 8-10, 2010.  What a way to kick off a new year!

Where:

West Palm Beach, Fla., Palm Beach International Raceway (PBIR).  The “Sunshine State” in the middle of winter?  You bet!

Who:
You don’t have to be a world-famous racing star to compete with us, but if you’ve ever dreamed of making a world-famous racing star, have we got the opportunity for you!  Has it been a few years since you’ve raced?  Dust off those racing gloves and join us!  Never raced before?  Participate in one of our racing schools during the year or get some time in the kart in the school offered Friday before the event to learn the ropes.  Always wanted to race at Daytona, Le Mans or Sebring but never had the chance?  You’ll experience the same fun and excitement at the 24 Hours of America.  However the biggest difference is:  you break your car at Le Mans you race is over, you “break” your kart in our race we can fix it so you can go on!!!

Details (choice of 2 chassis - the SQ and DINO)

SQ Chassis Class

Rear Bumper: Bumper will cover the full width of the kart, including the rear tires. Honda engines will be used.

Start the New Year by doing what you love at a world-class racing course, PBIR.  Plus, you’ll start your year by doing something others only dream of doing, and that is competing in a 24-hour race.  And did we mention the mild weather Florida experiences in early January?  Sun, fun and racing – it just can’t be beat!

The 2010 24 Hours of America will use the same chassis brand as the 2009 race. With excellent feed back and performance during the 2009 race, we will keep a great thing going.  The chassis is the SQ Evolution with a honda engine (honda engine not pictured above).

And what excellent soil on which to race!  PBIR has an 8/10th mile, 11 turn track that is both technical and forgiving.  The surface is only four years old and is still very smooth and fast.  The track layout has been reconfigured, and we will be using the full long straightaway this year (See track map at the bottom of this page).

DINO Chassis Class

  • The Dino kart is our regular season chassis
  • Engine is the same as the SQ Kart, only with the chassis being heavier, the DINO will not carry the same speeds as the SQ.
  • This is a great and reliable kart and recommended for teams with less driving experience.
  • Special pricing is listed for teams using the DINO karts (see pricing below).

    Highlight of the Rules:

    Team size:

    • Maximum of 10 drivers 24HourTeam
    • Minimum of 4 drivers* * GTP & GT40Pro teams are allowed minimum 2-driver teams (Good for the crazy ones who don’t mind sore arms and lack of sleep!)
    • Individual drivers will be matched to teams.  Team size will vary based on preferences and number of individuals to be matched to teams.  Please call us for any questions.  Last year we had three teams of individuals that were put together just for this race.  If you can’t put a team together, do not let that keep you from being part of this event.  This is not something you will want to miss!

    Maximum driver stint:

45 minutes per driver stint, maximum of two stints back-to-back per driver.  Each full minute over the max driving stint will be a one lap penalty – so make sure you start that stop watch at the right time.  Each driver must drive a minimum of 80 minutes during the actual race.

Individual Drivers:  Individual drivers will be placed on five to eight-person teams.  Please call Karen at 1-866-722-3669, and she will place you on a team that fits your driving ability.  Individualpricing follows the chart to the right, divided by the numberend of race of drivers on the team.

If you are an individual or small group that doesn't have a full team, submit your driving information and we will help match you up with others to make a team. Please email Karen your contact information and she will collect your drivers information Karen@endurancekarting.com.

There are lots of things included in the price, including use of brand new kart, gas, tires, oil, mechanics, etc.  The price also includesbody work (see below) and an event T-shirt for all team members.  For the skinny teams, it also includes use of lead during the race.

The nose piece and both side pods are yours to keep after the race and are great souvenirs (please leave the bumpers on the karts).  Teams will have to remove these pieces themselves, so bring some tools if you want to literally keep a piece of the action.  You will have proof to show your neighbors and friends who did not believe you were going to participate in a 24 hour kart race!

The only items that cost extra are the safety gear, and there are other items available for rent for a nominal fee, if you require them.  (See our regular season pricing link on left hand side for itemized safety gear costs.)
